Sowelo - Rune Number 16
Original meaning: This Rune represents the sun and all things that depend on the sun for life. In Norse mythology the sun is female and thus Sowelo is a feminine force. It can increase the power of the spiritual and is connected to lightning and by extension enlightenment. From enlightenment comes a connection with education, achievement and honour.
Interpretation: The life bestowed by universal powers. Dependence on the sun for life and on God for spiritual life. The balance between body and soul that this knowledge brings. Joy, love and happiness. The life giving worth of the summer sun. The triumph of light over dark.
Reversed: This Rune cannot be read in the reversed position. The negative reading is sudden change. Over confidence. Destruction.
