The Nine of Pentacles in The Minor Arcana
The Nine of Pentacles depicts a very rich and elegant lady standing in a garden. Her robe is lavish, the material embroidered with stylised flowers. She wears an intricate headdress and a gauntlet on her left hand. On the gauntlet, a bird of prey is perched. It appears to have its hood on.
The garden is very abundant with fruit. There is a tree on either side of the picture in the background.
The Nine of Pentacles exemplifies all that anyone could ever wish to achieve from the pursuit of wealth. When this card appears the questioner needs to accept that a gracious lifestyle is achievable but in order to achieve it a sound foundation of financial gain is essential. Work hard, make the money and then enjoy all the good and worthwhile things that it can buy.
In a way this card is a warning. If the basics aren't taken care of like savings, pension funds and insurance then life can never be gracious and full of ease.
Summary: Be the ant, not the grasshopper.
