The Queen of Swords in The Minor Arcana

On her card, the Queen of Swords is sitting on an extremely ornate throne. She holds an upright sword in her right hand. Her crown is gold and jewelled, her robes long and flowing. On her left wrist she wears a sort of bracelet. Her throne appears to be positioned in a high place - she seems to be sitting above the clouds. A solitary bird can be seen above her and a clump of trees below.

The Queen of Swords is probably meant to represent Pallas (also the name given to the Queen of Spades circa 1493). Pallas was another name for Athene, the Virgin Goddess of Wisdom. Pallas was also called La Pucelle (the maiden) a name shared by Joan of Arc. Some authorities claim that the queen of spades represents Joan of Arc, so by extension the Queen of Swords could also have this connection.

The Queen of swords indicates the need for the querent to look for the truth in their situation. They need to be very certain as to who is being completely honest about what is going on. Are they themselves hiding the truth or are they being hoodwinked? Deceit could be rife?

This card can also suggest the sadness of a woman who is lonely. The querent could look for such a figure in his or her life. There may be some sort of connection.

Summary: Come clean.
