The Ten of Pentacles in The Minor Arcana
A busy scene is depicted in the Ten of Pentacles. An old man with white hair stands (or maybe sits) at the arched entrance of a town or city. He is swathed in a richly-woven, voluminous cloak. Two white dogs seem to be greeting him.
A younger man, who also looks as if he is hoping to enter the town talks to a third man who greets him from beneath the arch. A young child stands at the side of the latter.
To the left of the town entrance stands a sentry holding a tall spear. Beyond the entrance is a tantalising glimpse of the buildings of part of the town. On the town wall there are two crests - one depicts a castle, the other a pair of scales.
When the Ten of Pentacles turns up in a reading it indicates wealth and stability with an emphasis on the long term acquisition of money. It is a card that also represents the riches and finances of a family. This card also stands for the unchanging nature of an established family business or the passing of money from one generation to the next.
The Ten of Pentacles tells the querent to keep to the well-trodden path of hard work and enterprise so that the future is assured.
Summary: Go for long term gain.
