The Three of Cups in The Minor Arcana

The Three of Cups shows three women in long flowing robes. Each woman holds up a large golden cup in a sort of pledge or salute. They almost appear to be dancing. At their feet are several piles of fruit.

The three women in the Three of Cups are like the couple in the Two of Cups, symbolically sharing their feelings. They are dancing as they pledge each other by raising their cups and there is an air of celebration and exhilaration in this illustration.

When the Three of Cups shows up in a reading the querent is being asked to look at the issues of community in their life. Are they getting emotional support from a particular group in their life or do they need to offer support? They should examine their situation in relation to their involvement or lack of involvement with a club, institution or even a body like the social services.

The Three of Cups also celebrates the feeling of joy and security which can come from the support and emotional succour of group activity. Does the querent need the support? Have they turned their back on it? The Three of Cups asks them to assess their relationships with the institutions in their life.

Summary: Look to the group.
