The Two of Cups in The Minor Arcana

The Two of cups depicts a richly dressed woman on the left and an equally elaborately dressed man on the right. The woman wears a green garland around her head. The man wears a red one. They are facing each other and each holds a large golden cup in the left hand. Above them is a lion between a pair of black wings on top of a black symbol.

The couple stand on an artificial foreground. Behind is a pretty country scene with a red-roofed house amongst the trees.

The man and woman are pledging one another and the winged symbol is the Caduceus of Hermes.

The man and woman in the illustration on the Two of Cups are sharing the contents of the cups. They are sharing their feelings and are thus a couple. This card is about relationships between two people or between any two entities. It can also refer to the coming together of any two parties, the attraction and pull of any one body to another.

When the Two of Cups appears in a reading the querent should look to any relationship in their situation and related to their enquiry. Are there conflicts that should be resolved? Is the relationship having a positive or negative effect on their life, or is it too exclusive? Are others feeling left out? If a relationship is damaging in any way this should be acknowledged. Sometimes it is too easy to be consumed by a one to one entanglement to the detriment of all other aspects of one's life.

Summary: Seek the connection.
